A brief history.

Doug started playing professionally 1969. with Hunter Muskett, three albums and two singles with them. Notable moments with HM, supporting David Bowie, and first major tour supporting Ralph McTell. Next major project in duo with Richard Digance, after guesting on his first three solo records, between '74-'78, many gigs UK and Europe, with major tours supporting Jethro Tull, Joan Amatrading, Elkie Brooks, Richard Thompsom, Supertramp, Sutherland Brothers, Kinks and Steeleye Span. Ended period with Richard recording live album at Queen Elizabeth Hall. During and after Richard, recorded and toured as part of the Maddy Prior Band, and as part of the Michael Chapman Band. In 1979 first tour as part of The Albion Band, culminating in a season at the National Theatre as part of Lark Rise and Candleford. Also recorded album of the plays. Joined Magna Carta full time in 1980, after guesting on an earlier record. After three albums and a lot of foreign tours, including North Africa and the Middle East for The British Council, left them in 1983 to rejoin The Albion Band until 1985/6. Recorded another two albums with them, then in 1985, after releasing first solo record, started recording first of two records with guitar virtuoso Jerry Donahue, which became the basis for The Backroom Boys, which still exists and tour whenever schedules permit..Lots more in between, The DW Morter Band, with Hughie Flint, (of McGuiness Flint and Blues Band fame), tours in England and Europe with Michael Moore, (Melody Maker Award winning singer/songwriter), The Nerve, with Jerry Donahue, Gerry Conway, Pat Donaldson, and Vicki Clayton, the tribute band to Fotheringay, Vicki taking Sandy Denny's role and DM taking Trevor Lucas' role, The Frendz, (Danish/Norwegian/Finnish Blues/Rock band), Jim Gordon, (Norway based Irish Singer/songwriter), Jens Falck, (Danish multi-instrumentalist, and fellow Backroom Boy), The Celtic Blues Band, with Jens Falck, Paul Burgess (10CC), and Alan Thomson, the Donahue, Morter, Falck Trio, up to present project with "Then Came The Wheel", his collaboration with Alan Thomson, Arran Ahmun, from John Martyn's band, and Foster Paterson form Donnie Munro's band.
